Phyllis Carter v. Cablevision Systems Corp., et al. Case No. 16-cv-08649

New Collective Action filed in the Eastern District of New York
Phyllis Carter v. Cablevision Systems Corp., et al. Case No. 16-cv-08649

On November 21, 2016 Phyllis Carter on behalf of herself, individually, and on behalf of all others similarly-situated, filed a class and collective action lawsuit in United States District Court – Eastern District of New York against Cablevision Systems Corp. The complaint alleges and describes that the plaintiff worked at Cablevision as a customer service representative, answering phone calls from clients and helping them with billing and troubleshooting. From the beginning of her employment in February 2012 to the end in 2016, the defendants asked Ms. Carter to work, and she did work, from 5 to 20 hours per week beyond the 37 hours she was hired to work per week. It is alleged that during this time the defendant failed to pay plaintiff and other employees for the first 7 minutes worked each day, in an attempt to cut costs, adding up to 28 minutes per week and almost 2 hours of unpaid work per month for four years, which would violate the New York Labor Law, New York Compensation Codes Rules and Regulations, and the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
