Mhamed Ata v. St. George Treats, Inc. and Rammon Kamal, Case No: 16-CV00563

On January 3, 2016, Lead Plaintiff Mhamed Ata, on behalf of himself and those similarly situated, filed a class and collective action lawsuit in United States District Court – Eastern District of New York vs. St. George Treats, Inc., and Rammon Kamal. The complaint alleges as follows: Mr. Ata began working for Defendants, a limousine company, around July 29, 2014 to September 22, 2015 as a driver. During his employment, Plaintiff was required to work over forty hours each week, but Defendants failed to pay Plaintiff the proper overtime compensation at the statutorily-required overtime rate of pay for any hour that he worked per week over forty hours as the New York Labor Law, and the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act require. In addition, Defendants failed to furnish Mr. Ata with accurate wage statements on each payday, and unlawfully held Plaintiff’s gratuities paid by Defendant’s customers.
